01Digital 24/7 – How does it work?

At Urban Inn everything is online! You book your favourite studio online on our website (cheaper!) or on a booking platform, and pay for everything online. All information is sent by e-mail and we are always available for enquiries. You can also register (check in) online from home.

 

You won’t find a receptionist or porter on site – no, because the code for the entrance door gets you into the Urban Inn and you have already loaded your “mobile key” into your wallet (app “dormakaba Blue Sky Access”) so that you can get straight into your studio.

 

This means that access is possible 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, without any complications.

02 Urban lifestyle in Innsbruck?

The Urban Inn stands for an urban attitude to life. Simple, uncomplicated, digital but at the same time stylish, lively and a bit “different”. The studios are equipped with fast internet so that you can continue streaming your series, but a mega flat-screen SmartTV system was deliberately omitted. Watch the hustle and bustle of the city from your bay window or chill out a bit in the seating window. You can also enjoy breakfast in bed with us – something you do far too rarely at home.

03What´s behind the „refurbished“ – All just more vintage?

The Urban Inn is not a place to sleep, but a statement. The century-old townhouse has been restored with a lot of handwork, incorporating local crafts and completely “refurbished”, we have gathered favourite furniture from all corners.

04What about sustainability and regionality?

Sustainable and eco-friendly are not only the regional loden fabrics or the soaps from the Innsbruck-based Walde factory. The entire house was restored with old craftsmanship, local materials and a lot of handwork – that’s why we want to make do without air conditioning. And when you arrive, organic tea from Sonnentor and a real Italian organic coffee for your Bialetti are already waiting for you in the kitchen.

05Who are the hosts?

We – René, Günther and Oliver – wanted to give the old town house a new urban use, to upgrade Wiltener Platzl as a whole and to open it up for guests. This is exactly the vision we try to realise every day: Oliver lives in the house himself and takes care of the concerns on site. Günther lives in the Urban Inn Dependance “Mondholz” in Hötting. And René is available at the “big brother”, the sustainable hotel and inn “Der Stern” (a good 30 minutes away) for all questions regarding reservations.

06Where is the Urban Inn?

The Urban Inn Wilten is located at Mentlgasse 4, right on the Wiltener Platzl. Wilten is the central district in the south of the historic city center, just a few minutes’ walk from the center and much loved by locals.

The “Mondholz” annexe is also in Innsbruck, but has a completely different character than the historic townhouse: modern wooden houses made of moonwood in a very quiet location on the edge of the forest high up in Hötting (Dorfgasse 48b and c).

07What is the Urban Inn – Mondholz – Hötting?

This is a dependence of the Urban Inn: the same service and handling but with a completely different character. The Urban Inn Hötting “Mondholz” are modern wooden houses, stylishly built with moon wood, enjoy a quiet and natural location high up in Hötting and are the ideal place for holidaymakers, families, sports enthusiasts and those seeking peace and quiet.

08How can I book? Really only online?

At the Urban Inn you can really only book online. We’re happy to give you information, but ultimately you can only book online.

If you book directly on urban-inn.com, you have a best price guarantee – always 10% cheaper than on the usual booking platforms. But feel free to make your booking on booking.com, expedia or Airbnb.

09Why should I share my email address and mobile phone number?

We send all information to you by email. Please give us your personal email address so that the information reaches you safely. Messages sent via the chat boxes of booing.com, expedia and Airbnb are unfortunately often prone to errors.

Your mobile phone number is important for accessing your flat. You will receive a mobile key for your mobile phone and can then open your flat door together with the “dormakaba Blue Sky Access” app.

10How short notice can I book?

You can book at any time – until midnight on the day of arrival. The availability is always updated and the free rooms are always ready for occupancy. It is only possible that requests such as extra beds (anything over the 2 standard beds) or children’s beds are not prepared. In such a case, we ask for your assistance on site and we will explain everything to you by phone or here.

With your booking, you will receive all the information by email in your chat box. It is important that you register online so that we can send you your Mobilien Key straight away.

11How can I change my booking? Other date, other number of persons, …

In principle, changes are only possible where the booking was made. The procedure varies from booking platform to booking platform. Therefore, please check your booking confirmation and the described possibilities. We will be more than happy to assist you.

We can easily make small changes directly (additional person, extra day), otherwise it is more difficult because you have paid for everything on the booking platform. With direct bookings we have all the advantages.

12How can I cancel my booking free of charge or what happens if I don´t show up?

We offer very flexible cancellation rates with free cancellation up to 2 days before arrival. However, for cancellations at even shorter notice or no-shows, 100% of the booked price will be charged. Unfortunately, we have no leeway here.

If you choose the cheaper “Non refundable rate” at the time of booking, you will immediately save 10% of the room rate, but the cancellation policy will still be 100% of the booked rate.

Therefore, we recommend that travel insurance be taken out independently to cover the cost of cancelling or interrupting a trip.

13How do I get the best price

Prices at Urban Inn are per room and vary with small discounts or surcharges depending on the number of adults, children or babies travelling with you. Prices also vary according to season, holidays, fairs or weekends – for example, a Sunday night in November is usually cheaper than an Easter weekend. You can always check the current prices on our booking platform.

In addition, we have numerous discounts that you can take advantage of at any time:

  • Minus 10% if you book directly
  • Minus 10% if you book the non refundable rate
  • Minus 5% if you stay 2 or 3 days
  • Minus 10% if you stay 4 to 6 days
  • Minus 15% if you stay for a week

You can save 35% if you book a non-cancellable rate directly for one week

14Are there group, corporate or longstay rates?

We are happy to look at high volume bookings on an individual basis – please email us at info@urban-inn.com.  We are happy to offer corporate rates for recurring corporate bookings.

15What additional services and catering can I book?

Keep it simple is our motto. We do not offer any services at the Urban Inn, as the surroundings and the city have everything to offer to suit your individual needs. We don’t have a porter, pick-up, concierge or room service, nor do we have an ironing board, laundry service, fall-out shelter or changing mat. Our studios and flats are your self-catering home base in Innsbruck.

16Can we bring our dog, cat or guinea pig?

Pets are welcome in half of our studios. For additional cleaning we charge Euro 16 per day per pet. We will send you this invoice with an online payment link before your arrival.

Please let us know in advance so that we can organise the room for you and continue to offer a pets-free studio for allergy sufferers.

17How can I pay?

Payment is only made in advance when booking online. This can be via a booking platform or directly on the website. For extensions or pet fees, we will email an invoice with an online payment link in advance – with a request for payment before arrival.

In the event of a (partial) refund, for example due to a cancellation within the flexible cancellation period, the amount will be rebooked online.

18How can I contact the Urban Inn without a reception?

You can always contact us by email at info@urban-inn.com . We will be happy to answer any questions you may have regarding bookings and invoices.

If you would rather speak to someone or you need a quick answer, please call our hotline +43 5264 8101. This is the “big brother”, the Hotel Stern. Here the phone is always manned from 7:30 to 22:00 and we can answer your questions or provide quick assistance.

19What to do if I need urgent help on site?

In urgent cases you can call Oliver at the Urban Inn Wilten on +43 664 9637688. He lives in the building and can help immediately. For emergencies at the Mondholz branch in Hötting, please call Günther on +43 664 4053759 – he also lives in Mondholz.

20I am not really happy – can I do anything about it or do I have to live with it?

Please get in touch immediately if you notice anything! Only if you contact us we can change things and make your time at the Urban Inn better.

Unfortunately, mistakes can happen from time to time, the technology can fail, an accident can occur or you simply imagined it differently. We are happy to help and we want to do everything we can to make sure you have a good time. Just give us a call and we will do our best to solve your problem as quickly as possible.

The Urban Inn is a new type of accommodation. We are learning from your needs. This will help us to make the studios and processes easier and better for you.

21What information do I get before I arrive?

All information will be sent to you by email. Please provide us with your personal email address to ensure the information reaches you safely. Messages sent through the chat boxes on booking.com, expedia and Airbnb are often subject to error.

At the time of booking, we will contact you with general information about your accommodation and arrival and ask you to provide us with your email address and mobile phone number, as well as the link for online registration and the Mobile Key App (dormakaba Blue Sky Access).

3 days before arrival we will send you all the details for your stay: how to check in, your room number and how to get in, the wifi code and many useful tips for your time at the Urban Inn.

Your mobile key will be issued and activated 2 days before your arrival. Now you can activate it in your “dormakaba Blue Sky App” and enter your room at any time.

Attention! You will receive your key ONLY if you have completed the online registration and have already paid the rate or any additional fees.

If you book at short notice, you will receive all the information one at a time. Maybe it’s a bit much at once, but you should know everything 😉

22What do I need to do before I arrive to check in?

It’s easy, all online and in advance:

  1. provide email address and mobile phone number
  2. make an online registration
  3. if there is something still to be paid, pay
  4. download the app “dormakaba Blue Sky Access
  5. Activate mobile key
  6. arrive, enter and feel at ease

23How can I register? Why do I have to do the online registration?

Online registration is the most important to-do for your stay. We are legally obliged to register you and your fellow travellers. Only with your data can we send you the mobile key and your welcome card.

Here’s how:

  • Click on the online check-in link from your personal info mail
  • Enter surname and date of your booking (surname as entered in your booking)
  • Enter all data about you and your fellow travellers: First name, last name, date of birth, address, passport number
  • Enter email address for ongoing contact, as well as Welcome Card and invoice
  • Enter mobile phone number for all persons who want to get a mobile key (at least one)
  • Sign and send online
  • If you have not received a link, then you can enter here with a general link and come to your form with the booking number (see booking confirmation)
  • If it does not work, please email us the details of you and your fellow travellers and we will do it for you.

Attention! Without your online registration you will not receive a mobile key for your flat.

24When can I check in? Can I check in earlier?

The apartment is available from 3pm. On request and with advance notice we can arrange for you to check in at 12pm – unfortunately we can’t do it earlier.

However, you are welcome to arrive earlier and leave your luggage with us in the boot. Please let us know so that we can provide you with a separate mobile key for the boot.

25How do I get to the Urban Inn?

The entrance door to the Urban Inn is open during the day – especially when Café Platzl is open on the side.

With your mobile key you can enter the electronic lock at any time. You will also receive the code for the entrance door by email: enter the 6-digit code and confirm with the “key” symbol.

If anything goes wrong, please contact us immediately by telephone.

26How do I get into my flat? How does the mobile key work?

All doors can be opened via Bluetooth from your mobile phone (smartphone). All you have to do is download the “dormakaba Blue Sky Access” app, activate the mobile key and open the door.

Here’s how:

    1. free download of the “dormakaba Blue Sky Access” app
    1. register in the “dormakaba Blue Sky Access” app with your surname and mobile phone number (Attention! Surname and mobile number must be identical to your booking).
    2. two days before your arrival the digital key will be created and you will receive the information by email.
    3. activate the digital key in the “dormakaba Blue Sky Access” app.
    4. Activate Bluetooth on your mobile phone
    5. to open: open “dormakaba Blue Sky Access”, hold the mobile phone to the door lock and press the key for the open command.

    For information:

    • The mobile key works for the entrance door, the boot and your flat. If you need earlier or longer time for entrance and boot, please contact us.
    • Last name and mobile number must be 100% identical to the booking for security reasons. We will send you this information in the email.
    • If you do not do the online registration, you will not receive a mobile key.
    • If you enter a mobile phone number for each participant, we will automatically create a mobile key for each mobile number.
    • You can also open the entrance door with the 6-digit numerical code.
    • If you don’t have a smartphone, your Bluetooth doesn’t work, the whole thing is too complicated for you, then call us and we’ll give you a code for the key-card safe so you can get to your room card.

    27Can I stay at the Urban Inn without a mobile key?

    Yes, of course!

    You can open the entrance door with the 6-digit code that will be sent to you by email.

    If you don’t have a smartphone, your Bluetooth doesn’t work or the mobile key is too complicated for you, then call us and we’ll give you a code for the key-card safe so you can get to your room card.

    28What is the Welcome Card for the City of Innsbruck? How do I get it?

    All visitors to the city and region of Innsbruck receive the Innsbruck Welcome Card free of charge for stays of 2 days or more and can use public transport in and around the city free of charge. For stays of 3 days or more, you can use various mountain railways for free or at a reduced rate.     With the data of your online registration, we will automatically register you and send you the Welcome Cards by email (sender is Innsbruck Tourismus). You can then save the cards in your wallet.

    29Booked late and arrived late! How do I get into my room?

    You can book your room until midnight on the day of arrival. The availability is always updated and the free rooms are always ready for occupancy.

    Due to the short-notice booking, it may be that requests such as extra beds (anything over the 2 standard beds) or cots are not prepared. In such a case, we ask for your assistance on site:

    1. bed linen, hand/bath towels are prepared in the depot for guests on the ground floor. You can open the door with the mobile key.

      30How can I arrive?

      We welcome you to arrive by train, public transport, bicycle or on foot. The main train station is a 10-minute walk away, the bus stop is a 5-minute walk away.

      If you arrive by car, you can only drive to the Urban Inn for loading activities, as it is located on the edge of the pedestrian zone. Parking is available in the short-term parking zone nearby or in the surrounding parking garages. Attention! Access via Wiltener Platzl prohibited, only possible via Mentlgasse from the east.

      If you arrive by plane at Innsbruck Airport (INN), bus line F leaves every 30 minutes from the airport to Triumphpforte/Casino, then 7 minutes on foot.

      31How can I get there by car?

      The Urban Inn is located on the edge of the pedestrian zone. Access is only possible via Mentlgasse from the east – access via Wiltener Platzl is prohibited. Attention! Access only possible for loading, as there is no stopping possibility at the building.

      32Where can I park my car?

      There is no parking directly at the Urban Inn.

      33Arrival by train?

      34Arrival at the airport?

      Innsbruck Airport (INN) is 5 km away. By taxi approx. 10 minutes or by public transport (IVB) bus line F leaves every 30 minutes from the airport to Triumphpforte/Casino, then 7 minutes on foot (total approx. 30 minutes).

      35How can I arrive?

      We welcome arrivals by train, public transport, bicycle or on foot. Due to the uphill road, however, we recommend a car or taxi. The IVB stop Brandjochstrasse is about 10 minutes away on foot.

      Arrival by car is ideal and parking is possible (Euro 18/day). Please reserve in advance.

      If you arrive by plane or train, we recommend taking a taxi – approx. 12 minutes journey

      36How can I get there by car?

      Dependence Mondholz is located in the old district of Hötting, which winds its way up the Nordkette to the north of the old town.

      Take the road through Innsbruck to Hötting and drive up Dorfgasse for a while. At the top of the Dorfgasse there is a crossroads with a small chapel in between – turn right here in the direction of Dorfgasse 48 (do not go straight on, as it is a dead end). After 50 metres, the new Mondholz houses of Dorfgasse 48 a-d are on the right-hand side – the flats are in Dorfgasse 48 b+c.

      37Where can I park my car?

      At the northern end of the houses Dorfgasse 48a-d there are four parking spaces in front of the bridge. You are welcome to use these for a daily fee of Euro 18 (pre-booking required). For the other parking spaces further north, parking is prohibited and there is no public short-term parking zone here.

      38Are there house rules at the Urban Inn?

      The principle is to treat each other with respect – we expect this from every visitor. We are most happy when everyone feels comfortable and has a good time in Innsbruck. So, laughter is always welcome.

      Parties, loud music, smoking, drugs, aggressive behavior will not be tolerated and an expulsion is immediately the consequence.

      Out of respect for the other residents, we ask you to stay quiet in the house from 10pm to 7am.

      39Are the apartments for non-smokers?

      Smoking is strictly prohibited in all studios and apartments of Urban Inn.

      In Austria, smoking is allowed on the street and outdoor catering – so you can smoke on the terrace in the cafe below.

      40Why is there no elevator and no A/C at the Urban Inn?

      The Urban Inn Wilten is an old town house from the 13th century. Unfortunately, it was not possible for us to install an elevator or air conditioning.

      The apartments are located on the first and second floor – for this you have to use the stairs. Barrier-free access is not available.

      For the warm nights all rooms are equipped with fans.

      43Is it possible to stay at Urban Inn with children?

      Urban Inn is ideal for families: central location, multi-bed rooms and a small kitchen to offer everyone a good time. Please indicate the age of the children so that we can properly prepare the beds or cribs. Sorry, we have no other extras: fall out protection, high chair, blackout curtains, baby monitors, etc.

      Strollers are welcome to be parked in the trunk.

      44Can you have breakfast at the Urban Inn?

      Yes and no! No, we do not offer breakfast for our guests, but YES in your kitchen Sonnentor organic tea and organic espresso is already prepared for you to prepare a fine breakfast. We recommend fresh pastries from the surrounding bakeries and a few specialties from the farmer’s market or surrounding stores.

      Yes, you should definitely try breakfast in bed. At home you never do it, and here it is welcome 😉

      46Is there a luggage room at the Urban Inn? Can I put my bags down earlier?

      On the ground floor we have a trunk that can be used at any time free of charge – on the right side of the corridor the penultimate door. During your stay you can enter anytime from 12:00 to 12:00. Please let us know in case of an early check-in or late check-out, so that we can extend your mobile key for the trunk as well.

      47Is there also a storage facility for larger things? Baby carriages, bicycles, ski equipment?

      Yes, we have space in the house for larger things. Please let us know in advance so we can give you access to the storage room.

      48Are there snacks or drinks at the Urban Inn?

      On the ground floor of the building is the café “s’Platzl”, a popular meeting place for locals. Even though the café is not part of the Urban Inn, it is happy to offer guests snacks and drinks to go at better prices. Prices and offer in the corridor of the Urban Inn – always possible during the opening hours of the café.

      49What can you do in Innsbruck?

      Innsbruck is a sports city, a student city and is the largest city in the Alps. That’s why, despite its “size”, it can offer an incredibly wide range of cultural, sports and leisure opportunities. Here to the tips!

      51Is there really no TV at the Urban Inn?

      Urban life is online and all rooms are equipped with high-speed Internet. For us, TVs are black boxes on the walls, communication spoilers and relationship disruptors, so we have deliberately dispensed with them.

      52How do i turn on the power?

      Please insert your room card, a bank/credit card or even a business card into the central switch – only then you will have sustainable electricity from Tyrolean hydropower in your room. … Don’t worry, the electricity costs nothing extra, even if your credit card is inserted.

      53How is the kitchen and the room equipped?

      The mini-kitchens are equipped with two induction plates, a refrigerator, a kettle and a bialetti (Italian espresso maker). Glasses, dishes, cutlery and cooking utensils are there.

      Organic tea from Sonnentor and a real Italian organic coffee are already ready for breakfast. Salt, pepper, sugar, vinegar and oil are also always there.

      If something ran out – we have prepared reserves for everything in the depot for guests on the first floor.

      54Where can i eat? Breakfast in bed?

      The Urban Inn stands for an urban lifestyle – that’s why we gathered favorite furniture from all corners, had the beds made by a carpenter close to the floor, and created cozy lounge corners like the seating window.

      All together is an invitation to chill and especially to “breakfast in bed”.

      The top 10 best tips for breakfast in bed

      1. Take a tray for the bed.
      2. Make an original Italian organic espresso in your Bialetti.
      3. Get fresh croissants at the bakery around the corner.
      4. Select chill-out music on your phone.
      5. Buy mountain cheese and bacon at the farmers’ market at Wiltener Platzl.
      6. Put together a delicious bowl of homemade granola.
      7. Get fresh-squeezed orange juice or a smoothie at the supermarket.
      8. Try out the Sonnentor teas.
      9. Prepare yourself a delicious egg dish.

      55How is the interior? Low beds, sitting windows, …

      The Urban Inn is all about the urban lifestyle – so we’ve collected favourite furniture from all over the place, had a carpenter make the beds close to the floor and created cosy lounge corners like the window seat. It creates a new sense of space!

      56How is the view and can I open the windows?

      All studios and apartments (S, L and partly M) facing the courtyard are equipped with cozy sitting windows. Here, for safety reasons, only a small window can be opened a crack – more is not allowed by law.

      Tip in Studios S: If you sit in the seat window and look north, you can see the Seegrube on the Nordkette.

      The apartments facing Wiltener Platzl (XL and partly M) open up a glimpse of lively urban life. Thanks to the fall protection, they can also be opened completely.

      57How does the ventilation work in the bathroom?

      The bathroom ventilators turn on automatically when used and according to the humidity and cannot be regulated. In case of loud noises, please report so that the technician can repair it immediately.

      58How does the heating and air conditioning work?

      The old town house has walls from the 16th century, therefore the heat supply is through efficient radiators. Please use the knob on the radiators to set the ideal temperature for you.

      We wanted to do without air conditioning in the Alps for many reasons and rely on fans. Due to the climatic development and the feedback of our guests, we are working at full speed that from spring 2024 all rooms are equipped with AC.

      59What to do in case of defect, repair, accident or problems?

      Please report immediately if something does not work as it should or if something is broken. Either directly to Oliver in the house (+43 664 963 7688) or to the hotline at the hotel “Der Stern” (+43 5264 8101). We will immediately try to solve any problems.

      60Is there waste separation?

      We ask you to separate the garbage in the sense of the circular economy. You are welcome to do this in your room and our cleaning team will empty the trash from your room every 3 days:

      • Residual and organic waste
      • Plastic
      • Packaging (paper, cardboard, glass and metal)

      In case there is more garbage:

      • In aisle 2.0G we have a trash separation station with metal, paper/cardboard, plastic, glass.
      • In the courtyard are the large garbage cans for residual waste, organic waste, plastic, paper/cardboard

      61Can I wash and iron at Urban Inn?

      We have prepared an ironing board and iron for rent in the depot for guests on the first floor.

      Laundry service is available at Bubblepoint (https://www.bubblepoint.com/) in Andreas-Hofer Strasse or Brixnerstrasse (10 min walk away).

      62Are the rooms cleaned daily?

      All studios and apartments are exclusively for self-catering and the booking includes final cleaning. To provide additional comfort, our cleaning team makes a small room service every 3 days: empty garbage, replenish inventory (toilet paper, coffee, tea, …), change towels and shower towels, rough cleaning.

      In case something runs out in the meantime (e.g. toilet paper) or if you need supplies, we have prepared reserves in the depot for guests on the ground floor.

      If you need an urgent cleaning because of a mishap, please contact us right away: either directly to Oliver in the house (+43 664 963 7688) or to the hotline at the hotel “Der Stern” (+43 5264 8101). We will immediately try to solve any problems.

      64Are there spare things/reserves in case something runs out?

      On the first floor we have set up a depot for guests: here you will find all the things to refill such as toilet paper, coffee, tea, salt, pepper, soap, dishwashing liquid, hand/shower towels, bed linen, and much more.

      Here we have also prepared an ironing board and iron for rent.

      With the mobile key you can open the door at any time during your stay.

      65When is check-out? Can I still store my luggage?

      Please do not forget! Pack your suitcase until 11 am and close the door behind you. Then everything is already done and the invoice will be sent by email.

      We are happy to offer the possibility to store the luggage in the trunk. Please for short info, so that we can extend the mobile key.
